Kol Tikvah sponsors community Passover seder

HUNTERSVILLE – Jewish temple Kol Tikvah will hold a Passover seder at Northstone Country Club. Passover is the celebration of the exodus of the Israelites from slavery. Reservations are required.

The seder will be held 5:45-8:15 p.m. April 15 at 15801 Northstone Drive. Admission costs $30 per adult member and $45 per adult non-member.

Reservations must be in by April 8 to be sure there is a place for everyone.

Witness Quartet performs at Bethel Presbyterian

CORNELIUS – Enjoy a night of Southern Gospel music at Bethel Presbyterian Church’s 20th anniversary concert of the Witness Quartet, which is known at Bethel and in the community as a Christ-centered and family-oriented group. 

The Witness Quartet’s performance will include “Glory Train” and “I’m Feeling Mighty Fine,” as well as other gospel songs.

Members consist of Eddie Knox, Michael Knox, Scott Knox, Rod Hager and Ron Hager with accompaniment by Peggy Washam on the piano and David Beard on guitar.   

The free concert starts at 6 p.m. April 6 in the sanctuary at the church, 19920 Bethel Church Road. Bring the whole family. Childcare will also be available in the nursery.

 

DCPC holds Holy Week events

DAVIDSON – Davidson College Presbyterian Church will hold Holy Week events leading up to Easter.

A Palm Sunday service on April 13 will be at 11 a.m. only.

A Holy Tuesday compline service will be held at 7:30 p.m. April 15 in the sanctuary. The service will include François Couperin’s setting of the Leçons de ténèbres. This work presents the Lamentations of Jeremiah the Prophet, which originally deplored the Siege of Jerusalem and subsequent desolation of the city. But the Lamentations are also applied allegorically to the days of mourning between Christ’s crucifixion and resurrection. Performing this work will be Margaret Carpenter and Chelsea Bonagura, sopranos; Barbara Krumdieck, baroque cello; and Jane Cain, organ.

A Maundy Thursday service will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 17 in the Congregation House. The service will include dinner, communion and foot washing.
