The grades are in for Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and other districts throughout the state.

The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction has released its annual NC School Report Card report on students’ test results, school violence, teacher certification and class sizes in all of the state’s public and charter schools.

CMS reported:

• Ninety-eight percent of elementary school teachers, 89 percent of middle school teachers and 88 percent of high school teachers are fully qualified.

• Higher rates of school crime and violence compared to schools around the state. For every 100 students, CMS reported 0.63 incidents in elementary schools, 1.66 incidents in middle schools and 1.38 in high schools. They include incidents that occur in schools, at a bus stop or on a bus, on school grounds or during off-campus, school-sponsored activities.

• No expulsions. For every 100 students, CMS reported 8.02 short-term suspensions for elementary students, 37.74 for middle school students and 47.54 for high school students.

The report also corrected information about Community School of Davidson released in its preliminary report earlier this year. The school earned an Honor School of Excellence designation, the highest designation a school can receive from the state.
