With area neighborhoods aglow with thousands of twinkling lights, it’s time to determine which displays truly shine.

For the eighth year, the Herald Weekly will highlight homes in Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson that spread the joy of the season by creating winter wonderlands in the annual Tour of De-Lights.

Those homes that go above and beyond in their seasonal spectacle deserve special recognition. We’re not talking about a fancy wreath or icicle lights. We’re looking for those all-out electric extravaganzas that rival the Grizwolds, from the movie “Christmas Vacation,” in flashiness and fanfare.

We’ll send a photographer to capture your dazzling displays, then we’ll choose the best in the region and share with our readers, who can drive through your neighborhood for their own views.

Send an email with full address, including neighborhood and town to news@huntersvilleherald.com, with a subject line “Tour of De-Lights.”

Feel free to comment on why you like to decorate, or let us know if your display is in honor or memory of someone special. Maybe your decorating tradition started elsewhere and you’re continuing it here, or maybe you’re going all out for the very first year.

Entries will be accepted through noon, Dec. 20. We won’t rate homes in five degrees of brilliance as in the past, but we will point out what makes chosen decorated home unique. So, make your lights shine.

Look for the “Tour of De-Lights” listing in our Dec. 28 issue, then venture out with list in hand to warm your heart with our “de-light-ful” tradition.
