DENVER – North Lincoln High is a boys cross-country power.

The Knights won their second straight N.C. 2A championship Nov. 3 at Beeson Park in Kernersville. Their 44 points edged runner-up Hillsborough Cedar Ridge’s 50 points.

North Lincoln’s Andrew Fea finished second among 131 runners, covering the 5,000 meters in 16 minutes, nine seconds. Teammate Chris Boyle, a senior, was fourth in 16:17.

North Lincoln’s next three finishers helped seal the championship. Ryan Shannon, a junior, finished in 16:41 (12th place), just ahead of teammates Joshua Mosteller (16:45, 13th) and Lee Johnson (17:02, 23rd).

“The key was the guys having a great day all on the same day,” North Lincoln co-coach Jerry Castro said. “We had a good season, but this was the first Saturday when they all ran their best on the same day.”

The Knights also won the 2A West regional, the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A conference title, the Wendy’s Invitational and the Lincoln County meet.
