DAVIDSON – Summit Coffee and Sanctuary of Davidson will introduce what they bill as the first Davidson Art Crawl.

The event will be held 6-9 p.m. Nov. 15 on Main Street. The evening will feature dozens of artists, both in and surrounding the local businesses. Additionally, there will be three stages of live music, wine sampling at Sanctuary and a wine tasting at Summit Coffee.

"Bringing attention to the art community that already exists in Davidson is important to us," said Brian Helfrich, owner of Summit Coffee. "So many Main Street businesses feature talented artists from our own town, and we want to raise awareness of that. At the same time, we hope this event fosters growth within the local art community. We don't see this as a one-time event; rather, we hope we can make this happen somewhat regularly."

Sanctuary owner Kristen Feighery said she has been searching for ways to highlight artists’ talents and bring their work to the attention of the community.

“We feel hosting regular gallery crawls is a way to benefit the artists as well as the businesses in Davidson, and our goal is provide a great shopping experience as well as a fun evening enjoying our town,” Feighery said. “We also believe the crawl to be a great way for our customers to meet the artists they have been purchasing from for years and also to become acquainted with new artists. We believe putting a 'face' to these wonderful artists will encourage customers to support handmade and continue to buy local."

Sanctuary will feature art from dozens of local artists in its gallery and play host to live music 6-9 p.m. to accompany the crawl.

Summit Coffee will host the opening for its newest art exhibitors, from Binders Art Supplies in Charlotte, as well as a Moustache Art Design in conjunction with the Cornelius Art Project.

The moustache art is part of Summit's monthlong fundraising initiatives for Movember. In addition, dozens of art vendors will line up along Main Street in Downtown Davidson.
