DAVIDSON – Developer Lat Purser and Associates held a meeting Nov. 11 at Davidson Town Hall to reveal plans for an apartment complex proposed near the southwest quadrant of Griffith and Jetton streets.

Once a vacant, wooded area, this could become a space for 164 apartments above 500 feet of retail space along Jetton Street. There will be 5,000 square feet of commercial space on 4.6 acres, surrounded by Harris Teeter, small shops, a Baptist church and residential units.

The commercial space will be divided into small shop bays. The building will be no more than four stories.

“We chose Davidson because it’s respected for its nice quality of life,” said Lat Pursuer, senior vice president. “Davidson was looking to grow commercial and residential units in this particular area, so we proposed our idea in hopes that we could help with that.”

Lat Purser and Associates has completed the first phase of the project – addressing the public. Now the developer is entering the master plan stage, where the overall building concepts will begin to come to life.

Lat Purser and Associates will submit a master plan to the town and county for joint technical review before the planning board weighs in. 

Building could begin in April 2014 and is planned to end in May 2015.

As part of the project, Peninsula Drive will be extended to intersect with Jetton Street. It is planned to become a public road, with parallel parking and a streetscrape that meets the Town of Davidson’s requirements.
