DAVIDSON – The second Hunger Games movie has been released, and the Community School of Davidson will satiate the community’s thirst for the third with a choreographed performance of “Mockingjay” on Dec. 14.

When Sara Keys, the dance teacher at the Community School of Davidson, noticed the hype over Suzanne Collins’ book series, she decided to use it to engage students in dance. For the past two years, she has directed and choreographed the first two books of the series.

This has generated interest in dance throughout the school, with nearly all middle school students participating in this year’s production.

Keys has been encouraging students to study the characters and plot as they approach their roles in the performance.

More than 250 cast members will take part in the 90-minute performances at 4, 6 and 8 p.m. at Lake Norman High School, 186 Doolie Road, Mooresville. Tickets cost $7 online at www.csdspartans.org
