HUNTERSVILLE – The Christmas Village Toy Store provides assistance for families in greater Charlotte who want to buy affordable, new toys for their children at Christmas.

Rather than giving a handout of gifts to at-risk families, the Christmas Village Toy Store empowers families by providing an opportunity to buy gifts at a deeply discounted rate.

Volunteers donate new toys, which will be collected on Dec. 8. Lake Forest partners with Stonebridge Church, in addition to 30 other churches and businesses.

Invitations to shop are limited to families referred by various organizations, such as churches, schools and the Ada Jenkins Center. Last year, the store provided for 325 shoppers.

All profits from the store are reinvested to feed the hungry in our community. Last year, The Village Toy Store provided $13,000 to agencies who feed the hungry in north Mecklenburg.

The Village Toy Store will be open Dec. 14, at Lake Forest-Huntersville, 8519 Gilead Road.
