MOORESVILLE – Richard’s Coffee Shop will hold a brief ceremony to honor Veterans Day, as well as receive a check from Sam's Club that will go toward replacing the shop’s roof, the military museum announced on its Facebook page.
The event starts at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 11 at the shop, 165 N. Main St.
The Sam's Club Welcome Center celebrated its grand opening July 16 at 168 Norman Station, where it touted its hiring of veterans. The center is where people can inquire about job openings or buy memberships to the store.
Operated by the nonprofit Welcome Home Veterans, Richard’s Coffee Shop has been called the “most patriotic coffee shop in America.”
Artifacts and photos from various wars serve as the perfect backdrop for veterans to reminisce over military experiences.
Vietnam veteran Richard Warren opened a coffee shop in downtown Mooresville and named it Pat’s Gourmet Coffee Shop in honor of his wife. The shop became known more for the camaraderie than coffee.
After Warren died, friends named the shop after him in honor of his efforts to make veterans feel appreciated.
