CORNELIUS – Olympic gold medalist Lauren Perdue is working with Young Elites as she trains with David Marsh at SwimMAC Carolina in hopes of making the 2016 Olympic Team.
SwimMAC partners with the Cornelius nonprofit, which provides leadership skills to high school girls. Perdue is aiding Young Elites as the program prepares for its spring leadership sessions and third annual leadership summit in June 2014.
“We are excited to have someone of Lauren’s caliber working with us.” Young Elites Founder Susan Grabowski said. “She is an inspiration to the young women in our program.”
Perdue, a Greenville native, graduated with a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from University of Virginia, where she holds many swimming records. She won her gold medal as part of the 4x200 freestyle relay in the 2012 Olympics in London.
