Joanne Sahagian Turek

HUNTERSVILLE – Funeral services for Joanne Sahagian Turek, 63, were held Feb. 24, 2013, at St. Mark Catholic Church.

She died Feb. 20 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House.

Turek was born May 21, 1949, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Frank and Marjorie Sahagian. She was marketing director at New Concepts in Marketing.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Toni.

Survivors include her daughter, Jennifer Grenier and husband, Christopher, of Huntersville; son, Michael Turek Jr. of Cornelius; brother, Frank; and grandchildren, Connor and Dylan.

Judith Henkel Jones

HUNTERSVILLE – Funeral services for Judith Henkel Jones, 60, will be held in Jacksonville, Fla., at a later date.

She died Feb. 19 at Presbyterian Hospital Main.

Jones was born March 28, 1952, in Long Island, N.Y., to the late Charles and Mary Joan Henkel.

Robert Michael Dove

HUNTERSVILLE – Funeral services for Robert Michael “Bobby” Dove, 53, were held Feb. 22, 2013, at Huntersville Presbyterian Church.

He died Feb. 18 at his home.

Dove was born April 23, 1959, in Mecklenburg County, to Jimmie Jake and Helen Whitley Dove. 

He was co-owner of Dove’s Tire Service in Huntersville and sang in the North Mecklenburg Community Chorus.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Davis Dove; daughter, Kelly E. Dove of Charlotte; son, Nathan P. Dove of Huntersville; brothers, Steve Dove and wife, Beth, of Huntersville, and Tim Dove of Huntersville.

Poe was born Jan. 10, 1955, in Xinzhu, Taiwan, to Cheng-Tang Du and Jing-Xian Ding. She was a software engineer for Fiserv.

Hilda Howard Mayes

HUNTERSVILLE – Funeral services for Hilda Howard Mayes, 86, were held Feb. 20, 2013, at Ramah Presbyterian Church.

She died Feb. 17 at the Levine & Dickson Hospice House after a brief illness.

Mayes was born June 16, 1926, in Lincoln County, to the late Violet Derr Howard and Aubrey Howard.

She was as the first female officer of the Mecklenburg County Democratic Party and served as an administrative assistant at Smith’s Nursery. Mayes retired in 1989 as a Mecklenburg County magistrate.

Survivors include her sons, Terry Mayes and wife, Susan, of Huntersville and Tim Mayes and wife, Pat, of Huntersville; daughter, Gina Mayes Harris and husband, Jeff, of Davidson; sister, Janet Howard Knox and husband, Hub; and grandchildren Adam, Todd, Matthew, Luke, Anna and John.

Bryant Edward McGee

HUNTERSVILLE – Funeral services for Bryant Edward McGee were held March 4, 2013, at James Funeral Home.

He died March 1 at his home.

Before his retirement, he was employed by Freightliner TMP in Mount Holly.

McGee was preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Carver McGee.

HUNTERSVILLE – Funeral services for Sarah Louise Tanner Burnette, 80, were held March 4, 2013, at Sharon Memorial Park.

She died Feb. 28 at her home.

She was born Oct. 12, 1932, in Charlotte.

Burnette retired from working the cafeterias for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Albert Burnette, and daughters, Teresa, Pat and Bonnie.

Readling was born Oct. 1, 1921, in Mecklenburg County, to the late Samuel and Tinie Hastings.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leary; daughter, Vickie; and nine brothers.

Nancy Carole Luther Lippard

Lippard was born March 16, 1935.

She worked as a senate committee clerk for the N.C. General Assembly, for a jewelry sales company, with WSOC Radio/TV, at First Union Bank and with United Way in Charlotte for 13 years.

Howes was born June 8, 1947, in Wilmington, to the late James Simmons and Gwendolyn Rackley Jones.

She was a teacher and school administrator since 1988.
