Guard Vander Blue's left-handed layup with one second left gave Marquette a 59-58 victory against Davidson in the second round of the NCAA Tournament's East Regional on Thursday in Lexington, Ky.

Davidson's loss snapped a 17-game winning streak, the longest in the nation. The Wildcats, a No. 14 seed, finished the season 26-8.

Davidson took a 58-54 lead on Nic Cochran's two free throws with 20 seconds left, and seemed poised to upset No. 3 seed Marquette. But the Golden Eagles cut the lead to one with a three-pointer and forced a turnover with 6.7 seconds left.

After a timeout, Marquette inbounded the ball to Blue, who drove down the lane and launched the shot over Davidson center Jake Cohen (6-foot-10).

Davidson's long inbound pass as as the buzzer sounded was intercepted, ending the Wildcats season.

Marquette will advance to play Butler on Saturday.
