DAVIDSON – Will Grier is firm in his verbal commitment to play football at Florida, but that hasn’t stopped other colleges from offering him a scholarship.
Grier, a junior quarterback at Davidson Day, this week received offers from Arkansas and Auburn. It bumped his total to 10, which includes East Carolina, Wake Forest, UNC, Tennessee, N.C. State, Charlotte and Louisiana-Lafayette.
Grier led the nation in passing yards (5,785) and touchdown passes (69) last fall. Both marks also set state records, as Grier led the Patriots to a second straight state championship.
Grier also was named the N.C. Gatorade Player of the Year, and was on the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association and N.C. Associated Press all-state teams.
He completed 324 of 414 passes (78 percent), and threw 11 two-point conversions. Grier also led the Patriots in rushing (813 yards) and scored eight touchdowns.
He was named the national football player of the year on the MaxPreps Small Schools All-American team.
