CORNELIUS – Are Your Ducks In a Row?

A free public workshop examining estate planning, asset protection, identity theft prevention and physical security for yourself and home will be held 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. April 30 at Grace Covenant Church in Cornelius.

The workshop, sponsored by The McIntosh Law Firm and Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home, will include attorneys, advance planning funeral directors, financial advisors, police officers, and Caroline Farmer from the N.C. Department of Justice.

Commercial advisor completes lease to new bakery

CORNELIUS – Sperry Van Ness advisor Tadd Holzen has just completed a 1,600-square-foot lease transaction with Gabriel Dumitrescu, owner of a new upscale bakery.

Dumitrescu, who owns Our Daily Bread, a brick oven bakery specializing in breads, rolls and European style baked goods.

The bakery is located at 20124 W.Catawba Ave., the former location of a Domino’s Pizza.

Uptown Charlotte new home for major women’s event

CHARLOTTE  - Beginning with its September event, the Southern Women’s Show will be held at the Charlotte Convention Center in uptown Charlotte.

The show, which focuses on health, travel, home, business, education and fashion and food, is scheduled for Sept. 19-22.

“For this specific event, we think it will be a positive move,” said David Zimmerman, Southern Shows Inc. president.

Reasons for the move include the continued growth of uptown as a destination, improved parking, light rail access and the increasing number of women working and living uptown.  Show manager Tish Atkins said major participants, including Belk, Dillard’s and Chevrolet favored the move.

Company events that will remain at the Park Expo and Conference Center on Independence Boulevard include the Southern Christmas Show, the Southern Ideal Home Show and the Southern Spring Home & Garden Show.
