DAVIDSON – Davidson Day quarterback Will Grier is No. 45 on ESPN150, the sports network’s ranking of the nation’s top 2014 seniors released today.

Grier, who led the nation in passing yards and touchdowns last season as a junior, is ranked third among quarterbacks on ESPN’s list. He committed to Florida last December.

Grier is North Carolina’s highest-ranked offensive player, and fourth overall behind No. 10 Lamont Gaillard (Fayetteville Pine Forest defensive tackle), No. 26 Lorenzo Featherston (Greensboro Page defensive end) and No. 34 Kentavius Street (Greenville Rose defensive end).

Grier led Davidson Day (11-2) to the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association Division II state championship. He passed for state-record totals of 5,785 yards and 69 touchdowns, with just six interceptions, completing 324 of 414 passes (78 percent). He also rushed for 813 yards and eight touchdowns on 92 carries.

His 834 yards and 10 touchdowns in a 104-80 victory against Harrells Christian in the state semifinal set national records.
