UPDATE AT 2:10 p.m.
Hough has been evacuated a second time after officials found a suspicious package on campus. The Cornelius Police Department is investigating and called in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's Bomb Squad for assistance.
Cornelius Police have conducted a search at Hough High School's campus and nothing was found, according to a CMS spokesperson.
Students and staff have returned to class.
CORNELIUS – Hough High School was evacuated this morning after Cornelius Police received a call about a bomb threat on campus.
According to a spokesperson for the CMS media line, the evacuation was caused after a report of a possible device in a school bathroom.
As of 9:30 a.m. this morning, Cornelius Police have been at the school for about an hour investigating the call.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools reported six bomb threats during the 2011-12 school year, according to a statewide report on school crime and violence.
