DAVIDSON - The primary and junior choirs will present "Life of the Party!" on May 1. This musical play about Mary and Martha shows how two sisters can be very different from one another in showing their love for Jesus. Davidson United Methodist offers plant sale fundraiser
DAVIDSON – A plant sale will be held to benefit the Davidson Methodist youth April 27-28 and May 4-5 from 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. on the chapel lawn. The event is sponsored by the high school and middle school youth groups and choirs, and proceeds will benefit summer youth events.
Plants available will be petunia hanging baskets, “Million Bells” mini petunia hanging baskets, mixed flower hanging basket, mandevilla plants, hibiscus standard or braided plants, and geraniums.

Gethsemane Baptist holds national day of prayer service

Grace Covenant, Mt. Zion, and Bethel Presbyterian gather for National Day of Prayer
CORNELIUS – Local churches will gather at noon May 2 on the steps of the Cornelius Town Hall to pray for the nation.
The first Thursday of May was designated The National Day of Prayer by Congress in 1952. Anyone in the community is invited to come pray for leaders, schools and the community. Church leaders from Grace Covenant, Mt. Zion Methodist and Bethel Presbyterian will be direct portions of the community program.

Lake Forest worships through blues music
Lake Forest continues its fifth annual Hope in a House of Blues, a series about finding hope amidst the reality of the blues, with national artists playing gospel, bluegrass, rock and Americana worship music. Experience this balm for the soul on Sundays through May 5 at the 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services at both the Huntersville and Davidson campuses.
“We hope it will be a powerful, transformative and ultimately healing experience for every person who walks in our door,” lead pastor Mike Moses said.
Bluegrass banjo player Stevie Barr will perform with The Church Sisters in Huntersville on April 28 and in Davidson on May 5.
Also on May 5, Mike Farris comes to Huntersville for the finale of the series. Mike Farris was winner of the 2010 Dove Award for “Best Traditional Gospel Album of the Year.”

St. Phillip church hosts fellowship and usher events
HUNTERSVILLE – On April, 28 St. Phillip Missionary Baptist Church will host Friends and Family Day, which is free and open to the public. After morning worship at 11 a.m., lunch will be served at 1 p.m., followed by a day of fellowship, fun and games. Attire is casual.
On May 5 at 3 p.m. St. Phillip church will celebrate an Usher’s Anniversary. Rev. Hazel Washington of Nazareth Outreach Baptist Church will be the guest speaker.
