CORNELIUS – Lake Norman-area towns have seen their summer camp rosters fill quickly, but Cornelius’ Park, Arts, Recreation and Culture Department still has some openings, particularly in sports camps.

Baseball

June 17-21 and July 15-19.

Enjoy skills, drills, fun and games. Baseball camp is open to boys of all skill levels. Each day campers will begin inside The Fungo and end outside on the baseball field at Bailey Road Park. Campers must be 7-14 years old as of Aug. 31.

The camp costs $55 for residents or $65 for others. 

 

Basketball

Mornings July 8-12 and afternoons June 17-21. Other weeks are full.

Enjoy basketball drills and play fun scrimmage games. Learn new skills or improve existing ones. Camps may take place at Bailey Road Recreation Center or J.V. Washam Recreation Center.

The camp is for boys and girls ages 6-10. The camp costs $55 for residents or $65 for others. 

 

Bowling

June 10-14, July 8-12, July 29-Aug. 2 and Aug. 12-16.

If you like bowling, this camp will be right down your alley. Learn to bowl or improve your skills at Northcross Lanes at the Lake.

The camp is open for boys and girls ages 6-14. The camp costs $65 for residents or $75 for others. 

 

Cheerleading

June 24-28 and July 29-Aug. 2.

Campers will learn to jump, dance and cheer. The sessions will be led by Hough High cheerleading coach Jenna Anderson, an experienced competitive cheerleader at regional, state and national levels.

Boys and girls ages 6-12 can participate. The camp costs $55 for residents or $65 for others. 

 

Disc Golf

June 24-28 and July 22-26.

Campers will be instructed in a full range of lessons designed to increase skill and fun. This camp will concentrate on form, throwing styles, etiquette, rules and shot selection.

Boys and girls ages 8-14 can participate. The camp costs $65 for residents or $75 for others. 

 

Fitness Fun

Aug. 5-9. Other weeks are full.

Young campers will participate in a variety of developmentally appropriate activities and games designed to foster an enjoyment of physical activity. Focus will include movement, social skills, sportsmanship and personal space.

Boys and girls ages 4-6 can participate. The camp costs $45 for residents or $55 for others. 

 

Football

July 22-26. Other weeks are full.

Get ready for the next Pop Warner or flag football season with this fun, non-contact camp. Campers will learn a variety of football skills and play scrimmage games. A mouthguard is required, but cleats are not.

Boys and girls ages 7-11 can participate. The camp costs $55 for residents or $65 for others. 

 

Golf

June 10-14, June 17-21, July 8-12, July 15-19, July 22-26, Aug. 5-9 and Aug. 12-16.

Junior golfers will have an exciting week learning golf fundamentals including putting, chipping, iron play and driving.

Boys and girls ages 8-14 can participate. The camp costs $80 for residents or $90 for others. 

 

Lacrosse

June 24-28 and Aug. 5-9 for boys and July 15-19 for girls.

Campers of all skill levels will develop or enhance the fundamentals and learn the rules of the game.

Boys and girls ages 8-16 can participate. The camp costs $55 for residents or $65 for others. 

A Lacrosse mini camp will be offered July 15-19 for ages 5-7. This camp costs $25 for residents or $30 for others.

 

Sailing

Aug. 12-16.

The campers will learn the basics of getting out on the lake and back to shore safely. Sessions offered for ages 10-13 and 14-16.

The camp costs $90 for residents or $100 for others. 

 

Soccer

Offered weekly July 8-Aug. 2

Campers will follow a curriculum that is age appropriate and focused on skill development. Sessions are led by instructors from the Carolina Rapids, formerly called the North Meck Soccer Club.

Boys and girls ages 6-14 can participate. The camp costs $55 for residents or $65 for others. 

A mini soccer camp will be held July 22-26 and July 29-Aug. 2 for ages 4-5. This camp costs $25 for residents and $30 for others.

 

Softball

June 17-21 and July 15-19

The softball camp will offer skills, drills and games for girls of all skill levels for ages 7-14. The camp costs $55 for residents or $65 for others.

 

T-Ball

June 17-21 and July 15-19.

Campers ages 5-6 will develop their budding baseball and softball skills with drills and games. The camp costs $25 for residents or $30 for others.

 

Tennis

Offered weekly June 17-Aug. 9, except the week of July 4.

The camp will introduce and develop the game for beginners and intermediate campers. The camp costs $80 for residents and $90 for others.

 

Volleyball

July 8-12 for ages 8-10 and June 17-21, July 8-12 and July 29-Aug. 2 for ages 11-15.

Boys and girls ages 8-15 can learn the fundamentals of the game. The camp costs $55 for residents and $65 for others.

 

Water Games

June 10-14, June 24-28, July 22-26 and Aug. 5-9.

Campers enjoy water games at Huntersville Family Fitness and Aquatics. The camp does not provide swimming lessons.
