I-MECK 4A all-conference softball team named

MOORESVILLE – Lake Norman High’s Shelby Bailey was named softball player of the year on the I-MECK 4A all-conference team. Teammate Dominique Wilson was named conference pitcher of the year. Bob Hall (Lake Norman) and Dana Catchpole (Hopewell High) were named conference co-coaches of the year.

The all-conference team was Kayla McGuffey, Mackenzie Winslow, Kasey Moffett, Sydney Ditto, Bailey and Wilson (Lake Norman); Patricia Thompson, Shelby Wiggs, Brooke Myers and Ada Thompson (Hopewell); Kayla Hall, Katelyn Shifflett, Leah Murray and Katrina Cassel (Hough); Kelsey Clark, Brandi Stamey and Sarah Doolen (Mooresville); Megan Curazo and Katie Stokes (North Mecklenburg); and Adrianne McDonald (Mallard Creek).



Three Knights named all-conference

HUNTERSVILLE – Lake Norman Charter’s John Creel, Greyson Hunt and Ben Dukes were named to the Southern Piedmont 1A/2A all-conference baseball team.

West Lincoln High’s Cameron High was named conference player of the year, and Allan Chapman (West Lincoln) was conference coach of the year.
Others named to the all-conference team were Chandler Jenkins, Derrick Braun, Brett Huff, Alec Johnson and High (West Lincoln); Jon Carpenter, Dillon Harris, Kacee Buff and Hunter Jackson (Cherryville); Addison Parrish, Clay Hodges, Danny Sullivan and Darin Salter (East Lincoln); Justin Norton, Brian Seymore and Paul Cochrane (North Lincoln); Jha’Qui Adams and Hunter Stinett (Bessemer City); Bradley Franklin (Lincolnton); and Ethan Reep (Gastonia Highland)


Hough’s Roux to play soccer in college

CORNELIUS – Cheyn Roux, an all-conference soccer player at Hough High, will play this fall at Capital University, an NCAA Division III school in Columbus, Ohio.

Roux, a forward/midfielder, was a two-year starter at Hough. He also played for the Carolina Rapids U.S. Development Academy.

Register for Giants football

CORNELIUS – The Lake Norman Giants Pop Warner Football organization is accepting registration for its upcoming season.

The Giants are the largest youth football organization in Mecklenburg and Iredell counties and the second largest in the state. Play is open to ages 6-13 against others of similar size and age. Registration is online at www.lkngiants.com.

Currys to host benefit golf tournament

DAVIDSON – Dell and Stephen Curry will host the annual Curry Celebrity Classic golf tournament June 17 at River Run Golf Club. The event will benefit the Ada Jenkins Center.

The tournament includes foursomes of one celebrity and three amateurs.  The Currys will play and other celebrities scheduled to appear are former Charlotte Hornets star Muggsy Bogues as well as former NFL players Phil Crosby, Frank Garcia, Tim McKyer, Muhsin Muhammad and Adrian Murrell.

Ada Jenkins is dedicated to helping citizens in Davidson, Cornelius, Huntersville and southern Iredell County become healthier, better educated and economically self-sufficient.
