DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Clint Bowyer moved ahead of Carl Edwards to second place in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series standings thanks to a fourth-place finish in the Coke Zero 400 on July 6.

Bowyer trails leader Jimmie Johnson by 49 points heading into the July 14 race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

Drivers with Cornelius or Huntersville ties to finish in the top 20  of the Coke Zero 400 were Clint Bowyer (fourth), Michael Waltrip (fifth), Ricky Stenhouse Jr. (11th), Kyle Busch (12th) and Jeff Burton (16th),

Johnson leads the series standings with 658 points. He’s followed by Bowyer in second (609); Matt Kenseth in sixth (540); and Busch in seventh (533).
