CORNELIUS – Bruce Trimbur was selected by the Cornelius Town Board to fill the fifth commissioner's seat which has been vacant for seven months.
The seat became available after Mayor Lynette Rinker was unanimously chosen by fellow board members to serve as mayor. She replaced Jeff Tarte, who took a North Carolina Senate seat in January.
Filing began on July 5 for the Cornelius town board elections in November.
Rinker said that Trimbur would not be filing for in the upcoming election.
That will give Trimbur less than three months to serve as the town’s fifth commissioner.
