Thomas Frank Bechtel

HUNTERSVILLE – Thomas “Tom” Frank Bechtel, 77, died Dec. 28, 2013.

He was born June 5, 1936, in Easton, Pa., to the late Frances and Helen Ricketts Bechtel.

Bechtel worked as an engineer for the General Electric Company and retired as director of research and development for the Department of Energy in Morgantown, W.Va.

Survivors include his wife, Dolores Mills Bechtel; daughters, Deborah Bechtel Blackwell and husband, James, and Lisa Bechtel Oehler; son, Jan Bechtel and wife, Regina; sister, Joanne Bechtel Behers; and six grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Jan. 4 at St. Andrews Lutheran Church.

Doris Parker Bowker

HUNTERSVILLE – Doris Parker Bowker, 83, died Dec. 28, 2013, at Novant Medical Center.

She was born Sept. 27, 1930, in Morehead City, to the late Sam and Mary Ann Harwood Parker.

Survivors include her sons, Johnnie and David Bowker; daughter, Vicki Conforti; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Kenneth Neal Wood 

DAVIDSON – Kenneth Neal Wood, 80, died Dec. 28, 2013.

He was born Aug. 15, 1933, in Buffalo, N.Y., to the late Christian Witmer Wood and Bessie Emily Wertman Wood.

Wood was the founding pastor of Northway United Presbyterian Church in Williamsport, Pa., an associate pastor at United Presbyterian Church in Orchard Park, N.Y., and director of the Lansing Area United Ministries. He was a fellow with the National Program for Education Leadership at Ohio Sate University and retired as director of experiential learning at Davidson College.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra; sons, John Colman Wood and wife, Carol Young Wood, and Peter Neal Wood and wife, Patricia Sierra; daughter, Melinda Wood and husband, Irvin Wardlow; sister, Nancy Wood Mackenburg; brothers-in-law, Robert Tonder, George, Samuel, Robert, and David Colman; and three grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 11 at the Davidson Friends Meeting House, 625 South St., Davidson, NC 28036.

Teleman Gaibor Cattonar

HUNTERSVILLE – Teleman Gaibor Cattonar, 85, died Dec. 26, 2013, at her home.

She was born March 3, 1928, in Chunchi, Ecuador, to Carlos and Targelia Gaibor.

Cattonar was a retired dental technician.

Survivors included her daughter, Caroline Fialo and husband, Michael; son, Joseph Clark Cattonar; two granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
