Raymond A. Guerrein

HUNTERSVILLE – Raymond A. Guerrein, 89, died Feb. 3, 2014, at Novant Health–Huntersville.

He was born Sept. 5, 1924, in Erie, Pa., to the late Leopold and Anna Guerrein.

Guerrein was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He worked as plant manager for Electric Auto-Lite Container in Niagara Falls, general manager for Gould Battery Company in Huntington, W.Va., and retired as division manager for Anchor Continental in Columbia, S.C. After retirement, he was an assistant professor of chemistry at USC Sumter, co-director at DHEC’s Center for Waste Minimization, and then became a consultant for Waste Reduction Partners, establishing a branch office in Charlotte.

Survivors include his wife, Joan; sons, Jerome Guerrein and wife, Jody, and Mark Guerrein; daughter, Anne Guerrein Dixon and husband, Jack of Huntersville; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Feb. 7 at St. Mark Catholic Church.

David Mark Byrd Remick

HUNTERSVILLE – David Mark Byrd Remick, 26, died Feb. 3, 2014, at his home.

He was born Sept. 3, 1987, in Pulaski County, Ark., to Mark Alan Remick and Kathryn Byrd Remick.

Remick was a first lieutenant in the Marine Corps., having just completed a tour in Afghanistan.

Survivors include his parents; brothers, Scott Jernigan, Samuel Remick and Thomas Remick; and grandparents, Mark and Patricia Remick, and Sam and Barbara Byrd.

Services were held Feb. 8 at Lake Forest Church.

Thomas Arthur Phillips

DAVIDSON – Thomas Arthur Phillips, 98, died Feb. 3, 2014, at Levine and Dickson Hospice House.

He was born June 19, 1915, in Benton, Ill., to the late J. Clark Phillips and Louise Meyers Phillips.

Phillips was a U.S. Army veteran and retired college professor from Indiana State University.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Mable and Gladys; three brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include his daughters, Marie Norris and husband, Jim, Billi Slavens and husband, Phil, and Linda Sherck and husband, Mike; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held in Indiana.

Kathyrn Grey Clapp Dickerson

HUNTERSVILLE – Kathyrn Grey Clapp Dickerson, 47, died Feb. 1, 2014, at Levine and Dickson Hospice House.

She was born Nov. 28, 1966, in Princeton, N.J., to Joseph and Helen Roberts Clapp.

Dickerson worked for Sylvan Learning Systems, taught in public schools in High Point, and most recently was literacy facilitator at Huntersville Elementary.  

Survivors include her parents; husband, Greer Dickerson; sons, Will and Jonathan Dickerson; step-son, Ryan; and sister, Amy Beatty.

Funeral services were held Feb. 5 at Christ Community Church.

Robin Anne Gartsu

HUNTERSVILLE – Robin Anne Gartsu, 62, died Jan. 31, 2014, at the Brian Center.

She was born Feb. 10, 1951, in Covington, Ky., to the late Robert and Jean Middendorf.

Survivors include her husband, Mark Gartsu; step-son, Michael James Gartsu; and one sister.

Anne Gonsalves Gillooly

CORNELIUS – Anne “Anna” Gonsalves Gillooly, 91 died Jan. 31, 2014, at Levine and Dickson Hospice House.

She was born April 20, 1923, in Middlesex County, Mass., to the late John and Matilda Gonsalves.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Gillooly.

Survivors include her son, Chaz; daughters, Lynne of Cornelius and Jacqueline Sporrong and husband, Michael; brother, Oliver; sisters, Margaret and Agnes; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Feb. 22 at James Funeral Home, 10520 Arahova Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078.
