The 20th anniversary of Coca-Cola Speed Street blends NASCAR with live music and entertainment. Thursday features tribute bands for Billy Joel, Backbeat and Michael Jackson. Friday features Zach Ludlam, Tim Dugger and Thompson Square. Saturday includes Julie Gribble, School of Rock and 38 Special.

Celebrity appearance

“Breaking Bad” star R.J. Mitte visits Lake Norman High on May 23 for a pair of events to raise money for school’s theater department and the Shriner’s Hospital for Children. Mitte will perform with The Academy during its monthly improv show, Lake Norman Live! Afterward, he’ll sign autographs. Admission and autographs each cost $10.
