Police chief announces promotions

HUNTERSVILLE – Chief Cleveland Spruill, of the Huntersville Police Department, announced the promotion of two officers July 11.

Sgt. Tom Seifert has been promoted to lieutenant for his community policing philosophy and dedication to the citizens of Huntersville. Seifert has spent 13 years working with HPD.

Officer Jason Couser was also promoted to the rank of sergeant. Couser recently served as police training officer and mentor for newly hired officers.

“Both have done an outstanding job wanting to expand policing philosophy,” Spruill said.

Spruill thanked his department for its work in keeping burglaries down in the Charlotte area.

Davidson chat locations solidified

DAVIDSON – Community chat locations have been scheduled for the remainder of the year.

The next one is Sept. 30 at Davidson Presbyterian Church, 116 Depot St., and then Oct. 30 at Davidson Friends Meeting House, 625 South St. Both are at 6 p.m.

Each year, Davidson commissioners offer residents a more informal setting to discuss concerns at locations closer to their homes. The board tries to hold them each quarter usually on the fifth Tuesdays of the month, however, this year’s calendar didn’t offer enough opportunities and they had to schedule their own.
