Knights run out of steam, fall to Stuart Cramer

Stuart Cramer pulled off a come-from-behind 27-20 win over Lake Norman Charter on Oct. 9. The Knights trailed 20-13 at the half, but scored in the third quarter to tie the score. Stuart Cramer put it away late and held on for the win. Sean Dugan accounted for 113 yards of total offense and a touchdown to lead Lake Norman Charter. Kurt Wronsky and David Gonzales had solid games, as did quarterback Teddy Spooner, who threw for a season-high 172 yards and a touchdown. Stuart Cramer was led by quarterback Jaylen Rocquemore, who threw for 218 yards, ran for 52 yards and another score and caught a 18 yard pass in the win.


Lake Norman Charter Class of 2015

Lake Norman Charter School celebrated June 6 the graduation of 189 students at Park Church. The celebration included remarks from math teacher John Imburgia as well as students Adam Bullock, Aalia Shariff and Parker Moss. Lake Norman Charter outscored Shelby

Lake Norman Charter outscored Shelby by 11 points in the fourth quarter to pull out a 78-74 win in the opening round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s Class 2A championships. Sophomore Grayson Hickert paced the Knights with 17 points and six rebounds, leading five players in double figures including Barrett Hancock (15 points),Malik McCormick (14), Nick Worthy (11) and Troy Cracknell (10).  The Knights play Mountain Heritage in second-round play on March 2. Knights’ hoopsters crush North Gaston

HUNTERSVILLE – The Lake Norman Charter boys’ basketball team routed North Gaston 75-39 on Jan. 20 to maintain its lead in the Big South 2A/3A conference. The Knights pumped in 31 points in the second quarter to build a 41-16 halftime lead. Lake Norman Charter improved to 7-0 in the conference and 11-4 overall. The Knights have won five games in a row, and nine of their past 10. Pat Lilly led Lake Norman Charter with 16 points, Malik McCormick scored 12 and Grayson Hickert added 11. Long night for the Knights - Womens Varsity Basketball

The basketball season came to a shocking end for the Lake Norman Charter girls’ team. The Knights, top seeded among 32 teams in the N.C. 1A Western region, was upset 55-53 by Lexington (a No. 17 seed) in a second-round playoff game Feb. 26 in Huntersville. Lake Norman Charter finished with a 26-2 record and had its 24-game winning streak snapped. The Knights led 53-49, but were outscored 6-0 in the final two minutes. Photos by Patrick Nicholson.


Lake Norman Charter snaps Lincoln Charter’s streak

Lake Norman Charter brought an abrupt end to Lincoln Charter’s 14-game winning streak. The Knights beat the host Eagles 56-23 in a non-conference girls’ basketball game Jan. 22, in a match of two of the lake area’s top teams. Lake Norman Charter improved to 15-1 and Lincoln Charter fell to 14-1. Lake Norman Charter jumped to an 18-4 lead after one quarter and extended it to 26-6 by halftime. Lake Norman Charter vs Hough Basketball - Split Wins

The Lake Norman Charter girls’ basketball team beat Hough 59-50 in a Dec. 6 non-conference game in Huntersville. The Knights improved to 3-1 by outscoring Hough 18-0 in the second quarter. Alex Busch scored a game-high 22 points, Ezinne Mbamalu had nine points and 17 rebounds and Jessi Harris grabbed 12 rebounds. Hough earned a split by coasting to a 55-29 victory in the boys’ game. The Huskies (4-1) did most of their damage inside as forward Luke Maye had 19 points and 11 rebounds, and center Tucker Thompson scored 13 points and had 10 rebounds.
